| Расскажу о своей любимой группе. Бывают люди, у которых многое ладится. Чьим успехам радуешься как своим. Не обременённые звёздной болезнью, светлые какие-то, позитивные — Linkin Park именно такие. И получается у них очень многое. Жанр, к котому принято приписывать музыку Linkin Park — ню-метал — дал лишь несколько хороших групп, а уж по-настоящему великих и вовсе одну-две. В самом начале далеко не всё было столь безоблачным. Коллектив окончательно сформировался 20 марта 1999 — в этот день пятеро друзей из лос-анжелесской группы Xero — будущей Linkin Park — с подачи своего знакомого Джеффа Блю из рекорд-лейбла Zomba Music позвонили Честеру Беннингтону и попросили его выслать свой вокал на демо-кассете. Его топорный мощный голос произвёл правильное впечатление на Xero.
Через некоторое время группа отрабатывала свой новый материал. Концерты в замшелых клубах, перетаскивание оборудования на своих плечах, путешествия по стране в тарахтящем драндулете — всё это было, как и у всех других. Когда захотелось чего-то большего, в получении контракта отказали абсолютно все мало-мальски серьёзные звукозаписывающие компании. Дело шло к затяжной депрессии и разочаровании в выбранном пути. Опять же с помощью Джеффа Блю (подробнее о нём здесь), который получил должность в Warner Music и пробил группе дорогу туда же, Linkin Park умудрились продать 24 миллиона коробочек со своей дебютной пластинкой восторженной публике; «Hybrid Theory» стал самым продаваемым альбомом 2001-го. Как уже упоминалось, старое название группы — Xero (затем было сменено на Hybrid Theory), сейчас мы называем их Linkin Park, смена названия группы связана с тем, чтобы избежать различных сопоставлений с другими группами с такими же названиями.
